Dear IDPF Members,
A self-nomination period is now open for a special
election to fill one open IDPF Board of Director
position. The position is vacant due to the resignation
of the Board seat held by Kelley Allen of Random House.
All IDPF members in good standing (current on
membership dues) may run for the Board. The nomination
period will begin now and end on Tuesday, February 27th
at 2400 eastern.
Representatives of IDPF Members may self-nominate by
posting an announcement to Nick Bogaty at nbogaty [at]
idpf.org. The announcements typically include candidate
statements on reasons for running for the position,
brief biographies and general vision ideas for the IDPF.
The nominations will be posted to all IDPF members after
eligibility has been verified and posted to the IDPF
website.
Being a Board member of the IDPF requires a commitment
in terms of responsibility and time. The Board currently
meets twice a month in a teleconference call and usually
meets once a year in a face to face meeting. Time
commitment costs and expenses are not reimbursed. Board
members should be leaders in their companies or
organizations and, importantly, should have a clear
understanding of the digital publishing/ebook industries
as well as related technologies. Board members are
closely involved in the specification output process so
knowledge of adopted technologies is essential.
After the nomination period, the election for the
Board of Director position will be held by remote vote
(email vote) beginning on Tuesday, February 27th and
will end on Tuesday, March 13th.
Best,
Nick
