IDPF Board Nomination Deadline: Friday, October 28

October 27, 2011

The nomination period for the upcoming election for seven positions on the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF) Board of Directors will close on Friday, October 28, 2011.

Primary Representatives of IDPF Members may self-nominate by emailing a request to Bill McCoy at bmccoy@idpf.org. Typically, a candidate would include a nomination statement which could include reasons for running for the position, a brief biography, and/or general vision or ideas for the IDPF. Candidate statements will be posted on the IDPF website shortly after the nomination period closes, and a remote vote will be held from November 1, 2011 through November 21, 2011. The seven seats will be awarded to the top seven vote getters, for terms of two years beginning December 1, 2011.

Being a Board member of the IDPF requires a commitment in terms of responsibility and time. The Board currently meets monthly via teleconference and usually meets once a year in a face-to-face meeting. The next scheduled F2F meeting is planned for December 5, 2011 in New York City. Time commitment costs and expenses are not reimbursed. Board members should be leaders in their companies or organizations and  have a clear understanding of the digital publishing/eBook industry. Board oversight responsibility extends to the specification approval process so knowledge of adopted technologies is helpful.

The IDPF Board's core responsibilities include representing member interests in developing the vision and strategic plan for the organization and providing oversight and guidance to staff and volunteers carrying out the work of the organization. Additionally, IDPF Board members frequently become involved in the hands-on work of the organization, such as in representing the organization at events.
