May 11, 2011

Meeting time: Wednesday, May 25 4:00pm-5:00pm

Meeting location: Terrace 4A, Javits Center (note: BEA badge is NOT required for access to this room)

The Book Industry Study Group (BISG) and the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF) invite members and other interested parties to an open, informal Digital Rights Management discussion during BookExpo America. During this 1-hour session, BISG and IDPF will work with attendees to explore options for improving consumer experience with multi-channel acquisition and cross-device consumption of eBooks and other commercial digital publications.

To kick off the conversation, Bill McCoy (IDPF) and Angela Bole (BISG) will provide a brief summary of the current market situation, including a compare/contrast of the following alternatives in play:

·         incorporation of anti-copying technology into the EPUB format standard;

·         development of lighter-weight "social DRM" solutions; and

·         cloud-based rights-locker solutions that are potentially format-neutral and tailored to use with online and browser-based Reading Systems

Seating is limited! Please plan to arrive promptly.
