IDPF Workshop on Advanced Adaptive Layout for High-Design Publications - July 20, 2011

The IDPF will hold a Workshop on Advanced Adaptive Layout for High-Design Publication on July 20 from 9:00am Pacific until 2:00pm, at the Google campus in Mountain View, CA and via Web meeting. The meeting facilitator will Markus Gylling, Chair, EPUB 3 Working Group. IDPF members, EPUB 3 Working Group participants, and other interested parties are invited to participate.

EPUB 3 Proposed Specification Released

New York, NY, May 23, 2011 - (PRESS RELEASE) The International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF) today announced that EPUB® 3 is now a Proposed Specification for final member and public review. EPUB, an XML and Web Standards based format developed by the IDPF, has become a key global standard in the rapidly developing digital publishing industry, enabling digital books and publications to be portable across devices and reading systems. EPUB 3 is a major revision of the standard that aligns EPUB with HTML5 and adds support for key emerging requirements including video, audio, interactivity, vertical writing and other global language capabilities, improved accessibility, MathML, and styling and layout enhancements.

Open Meeting on E-Book Digital Rights Management at BEA, hosted by BISG and IDPF

The Book Industry Study Group (BISG) and the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF) invite members and other interested parties to an open, informal Digital Rights Management discussion during BookExpo America. During this 1-hour session, BISG and IDPF will work with attendees to explore options for improving consumer experience with multi-channel acquisition and cross-device consumption of eBooks and other commercial digital publications. Wednesday, May 25 4:00pm-5:00pm; Terrace 4A, Javits Center.

Second Public Draft of EPUB 3 Specifications Published

The IDPF EPUB Working Group today published a second Public Draft of specifications for EPUB 3. This work-in-progress revision reflects feedback received during the Public and Member comment period that commenced with the publication of the first Public Draft on Feb 15, 2011, as well as other Working Group decisions, review and editorial improvements.
