IDPF HTML5 & EPUB 3 Workshop at Frankfurt: Early-Bird Rate Until August 15
On October 11 2012 during Frankfurt Book Fair IDPF and Frankfurt Academy will host an in-depth technical workshop on practical opportunities and challenges for publishers for creating and delivering complex and enhanced eBooks via HTML5 and EPUB 3. The expert speakers will include IDPF CTO Markus Gylling and Hachette Livre Head of Digitization Luc Audrain. The afternoon program will include overviews of HTML5 and EPUB 3, with practical instructions on how to use HTML, CSS and JavaScript to implement/ incorporate fixed-layout and interactivity features into eBooks. There will also be a review of current EPUB 3 support in commercial reading systems, including Apple iBooks, Kobo, Nook, and cloud-based delivery systems, and a look at the future roadmap. Compatibility with Amazon Kindle will also be covered. The remainder of the workshop will focus on real-world publisher workflows, tools, and best practices for scalable content creation of fixed-layout and enhanced/interactive eBooks. Both print-first and CMS-based models will be covered, including considerations for choosing selective enhancement vs. full interactive content.
