A major player on the book market:

Being part of the LIBRI Group with LIBRI GmbH as one of the leading wholesalers for physical as well as digital books in Germany and Europe, with Books on Demand GmbH as the leading print-on-demand company in Europe and with Internet GmbH as one of the leading internet dealers of physical and digital books and as operator of 800 white-label shops, the team and I personally have, in the past, focussed our work on the future of books and have specifically helped shaping it in the interest of owner-managed book trade.

A long-standing experience in digital media and pioneer spirit:

I've been active in the internet business since 1999 and working for since 2002. As managing director of  I was involved in many innovations on the book market. In 2005 we introduced e-books to the portfolio in the Mobipoket format and I was able to witness the first tentative sales of e-books for smartphones. During the same year we took up the first mp3 audiobook downloads into our product range and marked them with a soft DRM in the form of a watermark. The watermark procedure is active to this day on In March 2009 we were able to introduce the EPUB standard in Germany as an exclusive partner of Sony and as a partner of Adobe, thus laying the foundation for today's e-book business in Germany. A year later, in 2010, we have introduced the first Wifi and UMTS reader in Germany together with Acer and in September of this year we recently presented the reader apps for iOS and Android available within the framework of our "Read Anywhere" services at the International Consumer Electronics Fair (IFA) in Berlin.

Personal interest:

E-books are dear to my heart. It matters a lot to me to further develop the standard for e-books in a way that enables the greatest possible number of market participants to use these standards and to offer their customers a seamless digital reading experience. I'm also interested in further developing digital reading together in the interest of readers and to shape it up for new application ideas with the means of new technologies like HTML5 while looking for synergies with eMag and ePaper. And, last but not least I want to contribute my experience with hard and soft DRM (watermark) and make sure that we (publishing houses, aggregators, dealers and consumers) can all use a sustainable procedure.
