Hi, all can you help?

We at are trying to get animated book covers on e-pub, in the same way you can put a jpg of the front cover image there.
It would be useful to have some 'conversion' formula which could be used. We are aware of compatibility issues with Apple and Flash.
The files can initially be either be video or gif. But we can save down to whatever format is needed.
Please take a moment to look at our site
An easy way to see our work is -

We have worked with many of the publishers in the uk and we are now working with the US. All parties are really keen for this to happen, and the customers love them. The demand is there, we just need to negotiate this small technical hurdle.
Kind regards and appreciation.

Dear Jem, sorry for delayed response but I did not notice this addition to intro topic - next time please post as a new topic (I should have "closed" this one though so my bad).

Anyway you can create an intro video in EPUB 3 (and should work in Reading Systems that support many EPUB 3 features, like Apple iBooks) by making the first spine item akin to a "title page" and include the video there. The OPF resource with cover-image property does not need to be in the spine content at all, it is so designated so it can be used for bookshelf thumbnails and similar (for which presumably you don't want video). If this does not fully answer your question please post a follow-up. Thanks!

Hi Jem Butcher, We do found a way out (possibly) for your query. A sample code in HTML for cover page is given below. Please give a try;

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<html xmlns="">
<title>cover</title><link rel="stylesheet" href="template.css" type="text/css"/>
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"/>
<body style="margin:0; padding:0; font-size:0;">
<p class="center"><object data="images/AnimCover.swf" width="800" height="660" type="application/x-shockwave-flash">
<param name="movie" value="images/AnimCover.swf"/>
<param name="play" value="true" />
<param name="loop" value="true" />
<param name="quality" value="high"/>
<param name="bgcolor" value="#FFFFFF"/>
<param name="pluginurl" value=""/>

Thanks for your help on this, I think we are getting there. It would be useful to set up a meeting to physically see examples of this working.
Best Wishes
